Your pipes run from tiny to enormous and you want one instrument that covers all of them.
A utility engineer's week does not respect pipe size categories: a 2″ service connection in the morning, a 36″ trunk main in the afternoon, a 6″ pump discharge on the way back. An instrument that covers all of it is one instrument, one training session, one set of consumables, one calibration record. Two instruments with overlapping ranges is a logistics problem you carry in the truck forever.
The Minisonic II P puts signal echo visualization, gain and a quality index on the screen. Use them. A flow reading taken with a weak or unstable echo is not a measurement — it is a number the instrument produced because you asked it to.
The workflow that separates good field data from bad: clamp on, then look at the echo trace before you look at the flow rate. Clean echo, gain not pegged → believe the number. Gain maxed out, quality index marginal → re-seat with more couplant, switch between reflect and diagonal mode, or move to better pipe. The instrument is telling you whether to trust it. Most people never look.
Everywhere else in this catalog, non-invasive measurement protects the instrument from the fluid. In semiconductor fabs and pharmaceutical plants it protects the fluid from the instrument. A wetted sensor in an ultrapure loop is a contamination source and a validation problem. Clamp-on transducers on the outside of the pipe are neither.
Portable flow meters live in chambers, valve pits, plant rooms with condensate dripping off overhead pipework, and outdoors in weather. IP68 is the difference between an instrument that survives the job and an instrument that becomes a warranty conversation.

Specifications transcribed from the manufacturer datasheet and subject to change. Confirm against the controlling document before specifying — Seztec will send it to you on request.
This instrument is specified into the following industries. Each page covers the specific measurement problems, the fluids involved, and what usually goes wrong.
Send us pipe size, pipe material, wall thickness, lining, fluid, and how much straight run you have. A Seztec application engineer will confirm the fit — or tell you it is the wrong instrument, which happens and which we would rather say before you buy.
